Introduction to Department of Information Management in Tamsui Campus of Aletheia University
ABOUT US
In the Department, there are 12 faculty staffs, including 2 professors, 4 associate, professors, 3 assistant professors and 3 lecturers, and around 440 undergraduate students. The current chairman of the department is Dr. Pen-Choug Sun, an associate professor.
The aim of the department is to nurture our students a good capability in information literacy and artistic appreciation, understanding theory and practice of computer, and therefore they will be useful persons for the society.
The goal of the department is to train our students to know how to develop a platform of applications so that they are able to use the platform to serve firms and create innovations.
The 6 core competences for the students in the department are (1) information management professional theory and knowledge, (2) information technology application and practice skills, (3) electronic business management and integration skills, (4) teamwork and Interpersonal communication skills, (5) independent thinking, conceptual decision and creativity, and (6) the mind for international perspective and humane care.
The strategy for the angle of the department is (1) built on the relative advantages of competition, (2) a long-term promise to the responsibility of actions and resources, (3) a necessary implementation of execution, and (4) an essential task for the chairman of the department to set up.
The three characteristics of the department are (1) teaching through practicing, (2) developing through contests, and (3) learning through service.
The five implementations are running (1) goal-oriented course design, (2) modularized professional courses, (3) domain-practice course streaming, (4) diversified courses with the help of alumni, (5) information-service-oriented projects.

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE REQUIRMENT
The Department offers a four-year program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Management. The students of the department are required to take a capstone project course and team up with 4 classmates to work on an information system development project in their junior and senior years. Through the IS project, students demonstrate their teamwork, creativity, service and programming capabilities. A student must complete a minimum of 130 credit units of coursework, including 16 credits of common compulsory curriculum, 10 credits of general elective courses, 14 credits of common courses, 54 credits of departmental compulsory curriculum and 36 credits of departmental elective courses.
